AbilityPlus is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that maintains residential homes and day habilitation for individuals in North Alabama with intellectual disabilities. Our residential homes are designed to enhance the lives of our residents by providing:

  • a loving and compassionate family-like environment with 24-hour care and all the comforts of home
  • individualized supervision
  • supportive services that promote independence, maximum self-esteem, social, money management and domestic skills
  • services that encourage setting personal goals
  • opportunities that help reach their highest potential
  • services that enhance dignity, self-esteem and quality of life
  • scheduled social activities
  • individualized educational activities

The number of residents living in each house is limited to ensure each individual receives quality support services in a family-like environment while maintaining the comfort of home.

Each individual’s strengths, unique physical, psychological and social background, as well as the families are considered when setting their short and long-term goals.

AbilityPlus offers a community-inclusive home environment to individuals with intellectual disabilities. Residential homes are maintained with a CPR, first aid and medication trained staff to support the direct care and development of residents. Homes offer an enhanced quality of life with opportunities and challenges that are within the functional capabilities of each individual and provides physical and emotional security.

Ways to Donate

Be an Advocate for Ability Plus

Donate to or give a review of Ability Plus through GuideStar. Reviews give nonprofits valuable feedback on your experience. They also can help an organization's bottom line:

  • A positive review could reach thousands of grantmakers once it's posted to the organization's GuideStar profile. The reviews you write will show up on both GuideStar and GreatNonprofits, the Web site that makes it possible to write and post reviews.
  • Grantmakers are more likely to support organizations that can demonstrate the real-world impact of their work, and reviews are one of the best ways for a nonprofit to show these valuable results.

Tennessee Valley CFC

President John F. Kennedy established the CFC in 1961 as a once a year, in the workplace, appeal for Military, Federal and Postal Service employees to contribute, through payroll deduction, to their favorite charities. It was established because employees requested a convenient way to give and wanted to end multiple charity appeals in the work place. Your donation goes directly to where you say. Only those organizations you select (designate) will receive your gift, no others.
